RICHMOND – Governor Timothy M. Kaine today encouraged Virginians who have not filed for their economic stimulus payments to do so before the October 15 deadline. According to the IRS, 96,682 Virginians have yet to claim their economic stimulus payments from the IRS, amounting to more than $29 million in unclaimed dollars.

• Call the IRS toll-free at 1-800-829-1040.
• Call AARP’s free tax assistance program toll-free at 1-888-687-2277.
• File online using the tax stimulus payment tool created by the National Council on Aging and AARP at http://www.benefitscheckup.org/
