A regional agreement that would rely on state and federal funding to increase resources for low-income residents will go before the Augusta County Board of Supervisors today. But recent actions in the General Assembly could jeopardize this funding.
By forming a community action agency with Staunton and Waynesboro, the county would enter into an agreement that might make the localities eligible for as much as $332,500 in additional grant money, said Elizabeth Middleton, director of Shenandoah Valley Social Services. Both Staunton and Waynesboro have already passed the agreement.
