People Incorporated and TAP to Receive Dept. of Energy Awards

People Incorporated of Virginia and Total Action Against Poverty (Tap) are among the 103 agencies that are to receive Depoartment of Energy Sustainable Energy Resources for Consumers Awards (SERC Awards).  Of the 103 awards, 84 are Community Action Agencies.

Bay Aging CAP to Offer Spanish Classes

Bay Aging CAP has partnered with Telamon to offer "Introduction to Basic Spanish" classes in the community.  The classes are free and are being offered in Montross, Kilmarnock and Gloucester.

Appalachian CAA in the News

WCYB.Com- Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City

Executive Director, Angie Sproles, says they've seen a huge increase in the need for assistance since last year.  For expample, in 2009 they paid almost $11,000 to help those with their power bills.  This year, over $122,000....
